Performance assessment services at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) include integrated performance, safety, and risk assessments of radioactive and toxic waste disposal systems in complex environmental settings, and the development of computational tools for evaluating myriad uncertainties and their effects on system performance.
Environmental Consequence EvaluationsPerformance assessments are used to evaluate potential environmental and public health risks from waste disposal systems prior to their construction, and to support characterization and remediation of existing disposal systems that may produce adverse environmental impacts. These assessments provide a valuable tool for identifying the system components and uncertainties that are most significant to total system performance.
