The Mechanical Engineering Division maintains the SwRI Operations office in Huntsville, Alabama (established in 2001). The mission of this office is to provide clients across the Huntsville community with a highly skilled professional team working together to consolidate SwRI activities and to provide a solid support infrastructure, by:

• Supplying direct Aviation Systems Engineering (ASE) Section support to the U.S. Army Aviation aging aircraft community at Redstone Arsenal.
• Providing Institute presence in Huntsville with continued promotion to the community at Redstone Arsenal through support contracts, client meetings, local conferences and exhibits.
• Identifying opportunities for SwRI within US Army Aviation/Missile, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Space and Missile Defense (SMDC), and the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
